What's happening in the Bella Joy House

We've had quite a few inquiries about our future litters. So I will let everyone know what we know. Scarlet is less than one month away from delivering her litter. Her tentative due date is around August 14.  She is getting so cute with her little round pregnant belly. It's still growing. 5 kittens are reserved in her litter.  Diva is pregnant as well. She is due about 2 weeks after Scarlet. Her due date will be around the end of August or very early September. There are 3 kittens reserved in her litter. I will not be reserving anymore in her litter since this is her first pregnancy. If more kittens are born then I will list them for sale when they are born. FUTURE LITTERS Fiona and Dolly Purrton can go into season anytime. There are no reserves on their future litters as of now. If anyone wants to place a reserve on one of their litters please let us know.

Upcoming Litter Update 2017

We will have 2 litters of kittens born in August! Scarlet and Diva are definitely pregnant. Both have went out of heat and not went back into heat.  Scarlet has been pregnant for almost a month now and she is already showing. She may have a good sized litter on her hands if she keeps growing at the rate that she is!  Diva is starting to show slight signs already too. However, I don't expect a litter of no more than 3 from her since this will be her first litter. We currently have 5 reserves on Scarlet's litter and 2 reserves on Diva's litter. If Scarlet has more than 5 kittens; the other reserves get the option to choose one of hers instead. Most of our litters of kittens are already reserved before they are born. If you are interested in getting on our reserve waiting list contact us by email or our Facebook messaging. This is so exciting! I can't wait to have kittens back in the house again!

Guess who bred last night?!!

Image
This morning my family all finally witnessed Diva and Tally mating for the first time. She has went into heat 2 times and went back out without any breeding. Today she finally figured out what to do. We haven't witnessed anymore breedings since, but hopefully she will be expecting a litter of kittens in August. We will see!

My Hero Cat!

Latest YouTube Video for Proof! Before we went on vacation, I attempted to give myself a pedicure. Scarlet was certain I was injuring myself. She tried her best to protect me. And we laughed so hard the whole time that I barely finished. I hope you enjoy my little fearless cat!

Something I noticed about our cats while on Vacation

Image
When we went on vacation this summer and we decided to leave a video camera going to check on them while we were gone. Here is what I discovered. Our cats behaved differently while we were gone.  Normally they were very playful and followed us all over the house loving on us. Well since we were gone, I only caught them playing once while we were gone. That was the first day. By the last day, the only active cat around the house was Tally trying to mate with Diva. He followed her everywhere, singing his "Mate with Me" song. She was never seen to have nay interest in him at all. Instead, all she wanted to do was lay around, making short trips to the litter box and food and water bowls. The other girls just took turns on who got to lay on the top tier of the cat trees. Honestly, it made me sad. Because they acted depressed. They really missed us. When we returned, they all met us at the door crying for attention.  Fiona, my Fifi, wanted to be held in my arms and go...

Tally & Scarlett Mating Video

Some people want to make sure that we have a true mating. For that reason alone, we do occasionally record our cats breeding. Here is proof that we should be expecting kittens in August. My hubby had little too much fun recording this. He did the commentating.

Future Kitten Update

Image
We will have kittens in August! We have some great news! Some of our Bella Joy family members already know that Scarlett will be having kittens in August. However, you might be interested in the story of how we first found that out.  😁 You see, we went on a four day vacation to Myrtle Beach. Before we left, we set up one of our Blink cameras in the house so we could check on them any time we wanted.  Every day that we were there, I checked the camera about once every hour. Diva went into heat and was calling all over the hour. Tally tried to mate with her in just about every video that I saw. However, we never actually caught them going all the way through with the act. Diva hasn't bred before and just didn't know what to do. She kept rolling over onto her side and Tally was only able to hug her and cuddle her. We witnessed no breeding between them. On the way home from vacation,  I checked the video, expecting to see Tally and Diva trying again. But I...

The difference between a pregnant cat's nipples & a non-pregnant cat with pictures. Here is a great information post for you potential kitten buyers and owners! I decided to show you how breeders know if a cat is pregnant or not. The main way to tell is by seeing them mate. However, in Diva's case, she was a silent breeder and we never caught them. Yet, we can still tell that she is pregnant from looking at her kitty nipples. Hers are swollen and pink and now they are getting a white tip to them, which tells me her milk is getting ready to come in. When the milk comes in birth is expected within 48 hours. I gave you a poster here that shows what Diva's nipples looks like compared to our non-pregnant cat Dolly. Hopefully you can now tell the difference. Oh, and no cats were harmed in the taking of these photos. Our girls like having their bellies rubbed.

The Tale of the Clepto Kitty

Image
Let me tell you a story about my little kitty cat thief! The day before yesterday we were trimming the hair off of Diva's pregnant belly so that I could check to see when her milk comes in easier. Our tools were a set of electric trimmers and a pair of grooming scissors. Both were sitting by my side. However, we got distracted while using the trimmers. I set the small set of scissors beside of me while my hubby shaved her and I held her. Dolly walks up next to me, loving me up. I heard a small clinking sound but ignored it because I was focusing on Diva.  Well, I hear the clink gain and happen to look up to see Dolly scooting it across the floor like it was a cat toy. We were almost done with Diva so I let her play, thinking she would keep them right there. But no! When we were finished the scissors had disappeared and so had Dolly! I found her in the bathroom coming out of the litter box. So, I assumed they were in there and I checked. Nope. Not in the living room. Not un...

Today marks the first day that we have decided to use Blogger through Google.  Let me introduce our site for you. We are Bella Joy Siberians and we are a small cattery based in central Kentucky. Siberian Forrest Cats are a hypoallergenic breed of cats originally from Russia.  We found them years ago when we had almost given up on owning a pet.
