Something I noticed about our cats while on Vacation

When we went on vacation this summer and we decided to leave a video camera going to check on them while we were gone.

Here is what I discovered.

Our cats behaved differently while we were gone.  Normally they were very playful and followed us all over the house loving on us. Well since we were gone, I only caught them playing once while we were gone. That was the first day. By the last day, the only active cat around the house was Tally trying to mate with Diva. He followed her everywhere, singing his "Mate with Me" song. She was never seen to have nay interest in him at all. Instead, all she wanted to do was lay around, making short trips to the litter box and food and water bowls. The other girls just took turns on who got to lay on the top tier of the cat trees.

Honestly, it made me sad. Because they acted depressed. They really missed us.

When we returned, they all met us at the door crying for attention.  Fiona, my Fifi, wanted to be held in my arms and got on her hind legs and begged like a dog until I picked her up. She purred the biggest purr I've ever heard when I cradled her like a baby. She missed me.

They all missed us. We had our laps instantly full as soon as we were able to sit down and take a rest.

It was a sad realization that these sweet Siberians really and truly missed their family as much as we missed them, will stay with me.

So next time you leave your pet home remember that they have feelings too. And sometimes they may not be able to express how much they love you and need you in their lives,  but remember they do.  Make sure they have a playmate to keep them company  or even turn the tv to their favorite nature show.

And always remember to make it safely back to them. They depend on you for more than food and water.
